Canva has all the elegant design options of a complicated program, but it is very, very, very easy to use. This alone means that it is my go-to for the classroom. Also, students who pride themselves on excellent work yet have a sense of working efficiently take quickly to Canva's functionality. The templates are also quite professional and pleasant.

Tech Design for Students PiktoChart.png — PiktoChart

Infographics are no longer just for newspapers and magazines. Thanks to Piktochart, students can keep a presentation from getting stale or develop professional grade posters. Personally, I like how PiktoChart assumes digital publication and gears the experience toward web functionality. Students have found this website a popular option for preparing a visual presentation.

Tech Digital Design for Students AutoDraw.png — AutoDraw

This workspace is an intuitive timesaver that evens the playing field between artists and non-artists. As you draw objects, the website predicts what you intend to complete and lets you choose between several quality versions of the object. This interactive experience is fun, and it means that students can draw imaginatively without spending too much time obsessing over perfecting their lines. You can also draw freeform and type words. This is a great resource for students to quickly brainstorm posters and designs.

HP Reveal

This app has been recommended to me by a coworker, and I was impressed to see the enthusiasm that his students had when creating “secret” 3D posters. Posters that use HP Reveal are quite the attention grabbers.

Tech Design for Students Glogster.png — Glogster

I know that many teachers swear by Glogster, but I have never been able to get on board with the design aspect of Glogster. However, there is a large set of libraries on Glogsters that people have created that are certainly worth a gander. I have admired and used many.

Tech Google Earth Tour Builder.png — Tour Builder

It is so tempting to have students use Google Earth to create video tours. This tour builder has been a good tool for transfering a natural, explorative experience into a finished product, because it is much easier to use than building a tour from KML. Google Earth seems like it is a few years away from doing something revolutionary with its user interface for tour building.
