Social Media Projects
Social Media Projects connect the world of Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube and Instagram to the literary works we study. It captures social media's creative possibility. Alternate assignments are available for those without social media.

Writing Assignments 
Writing is the most important aspect of preparing for the future. Students should be prepared to write regular creative pieces, as well as mini-papers about what we learn.

Movie Reviews
Monthly, students will apply the Hero's Journey to a new movie of their selection and look for the same story elements that professional film critics assess. This assignment challenges students to be critical viewers rather passive watchers.

 Outside Reading Analyses
Each unit, students will turn in one analysis packet for their outside reading. In addition to an assessment, students will show they have mastered the book through the careful examination that the packet requires.

Outside Reading Presentations
Students will present their outside reading for three of the four units. These presentations will be four minute book presentations that market the strengths or slam the weaknesses of the book in an interesting way.
